Great watch!

I originally purchased this over a year and a half ago from a local watch retailer for a little less than $300. The watch was defective because I would check the time in the middle of the day and the hands were stopped. This was very annoying. I had to shake my hand every minute or so to keep the watch running. The watch is kinetic(uses capacitor for the battery and is powered by the movement of your hand - no battery is ever required). I went back to the store and asked for a refund but he told me no returns. BUT he did exchange it for another one. The new one had the same problem. I then sent it to the Seiko service center in California because it came with a 3 or so year warranty. I received it back in a week or so later. Ever since I got it back, the watch has been working perfectly. It never stopped moving, even if I put it down for a few days.
The picture that amazon.com has is very ugly. It does not show the true beauty. It looks very nice, shiny, simple, and very high-class. If I am not mistaking, everything that is yellow is gold. If not, most of it is. Even after the long time that I have the watch, none of the gold rubbed off. It has some scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass. Another great thing is that the clasp that closes the watch is seamless, you cant really see where the opens. I think that it is also the THINNEST kinetic watch in the world. It is certainly the thinnest that I ever had. The watch also feels nice and solid, not like it is about to break.
If you want to see a true picture of the watch, go to your local Seiko retailer(see Seikousa.com) or go to a department store and ask to see a picture of the "Seiko Model: SLB-002". They should have a large book with all of the models. They might offer to order the watch for you for the $695 retail.
The only negative thing about this watch is that it says "Water resitant" on the back. This means that you can't really go swimming with it. In the owners manual, it says that you can only take a shower with the watch or go in the rain. The reason for this is that that back is NOT THE SCREW type. If it were, this watch would be perfect because you could go swimming with it. I did try to see what would happen if I immersed the watch in a glass full of water. After an hour, the watch was fine, no water leaked in. But to be safe, I wouldn't swim with it.
Overall, the best watch I had and it was worth every dollar. Order it from amazon.com because they have a good price ( under $300).
