Product Description

The NEW Spode Judaica Seder Plate is an elegantly designed plate to be used during the Passover holiday. This Seder Plate which is placed in the middle of the table holds certain symbolic foods. A specific space is identified in Hebrew for each type of food served at the Seder meal, and the plate is indented in those areas to hold the food in place. The design on the Spode Judaica Seder plate is based on historic Judaic manuscripts from the 1880's, influenced by early ceramic tile motifs, and features the traditional Judaic colors of blue and white. The dominant motif consists of stylized flowers and vines, interwoven amongst the straight-edged Star of David.

5A most beautiful Seder plate - and I'm not Jewish!
By SouthFloridaGirl
I gave this to a friend as a Wedding gift. The Spode Judaica collection is some of the most beautiful Judaica I've seen, and I've seen a lot shopping with friends who are Jewish. Oversized, heavy weight pieces, creamy white porcelean, richly detailed in a gorgeous blue with beautiful symbols taken from old judaica manuscripts. I'm planning to give more of these items as gifts for friends. As a gift, you can't go wrong with anything from this collection for the person building a beautiful Jewish home.

5Another beautiful spode piece
By DRC
This Seder plate now takes a position of honor on my china hutch to be displayed throughout the year. Each well on the plate is slightly indented to help keep each item in its place. The blue coloring is true to the image shown. What I love about this piece is the very intricate detail work of the pattern. Keep in mind, these pieces are not hand painted. Also, the original packaging Spode places the piece in has absolutely no packing. I have bought a total of six Spode pieces from Amazon, some with better packaging than others, and all have come to me intact. It is purely up to who ever packs your order up as to how much protection your Spode piece will received during shipment. However, I have had good luck so far, so maybe you will too.

5Beautiful
By Rabbit the Reader
So nice I had a really hard time giving it as a wedding present instead of keeping it and adding to an already large collection. With some Seder plates going for ridiculous amounts of money this sensibly priced gift is just beautiful.

5Really nice quality and wonderful functionality
By J. A. Smith
For the sale price I paid, I wasn't expecting this to be as nice as it is. Very sturdy. I haven't had the opportunity to use it very much yet, but out of the box and after one night of use it clearly is a great product that works as advertised. Pointing the binocular up and down could be a bit nicer (some sort of fluid-damped tilt mechanism would be perfect), but panning and, most importantly, adjusting the height of the binocular for different viewers while staying trained on the same object are both buttery smooth as-is.A couple things to be aware of:It is *heavy*. I had planned to use this with a fairly heavy-duty tripod I already had (rated at 15lb capacity). On paper, this mount plus my 3lb binocular should have been OK on this tripod. Well, it sort of works, but the tripod is at its max rating and the result is an image that bounces for quite awhile after you let go. So I've had to buy another tripod to provide good support. I went with a heavy-duty video model rated at 25# that has crutch-style legs. I was able to find an inexpensive, lightly used one on ebay, but if I had it to over again, I'd have just purchased this with the XHD tripod that Orion pairs it with. That one looks very similar to the one I purchased separately and to me it would be worth it to have the matching set.It is *big*. Storing this when not in use should factor into your consideration. Portability also - this thing weighs a lot and carrying it around in the box is not ergonomic. I'm thinking of building some type of box with two built-in casters that allow moving it around like a dolly. Also the heavy-duty tripod required to support this will not fold down to a tiny package like most camera tripods that people are used to dealing with.My only other "complaint" is that I wish it was rated to carry a heavier binocular than 5lb. Some people do this anyway, but after seeing what happened when pushing my tripod to its limit I am not inclined to do the same to the mount. But Orion doesn't mischaracterize its capabilities, so I can't mark them down for wanting more from than they advertised. Especially at this price point.

4A good light weight tripod for spotter or camera
By Taras R. Hnatyshyn
I've been using this tripod with my 35mm cameras, medium format cameras (Hasselblads), ETX90 spotting scope and Orion Short Tube 80 refractor. The tripod performs well in most cases, and has a built in bubble level to help in leveling the tripod. The only shortcomings are that the pan head is difficult to adjust in small increments, so centering items in the telescopes are not as effortless as one would like. This tripod is a great platform for a 35mm camera or a medium format camera with shorter lenses. When I use my longest lenses (350mm & 500mm) on my Hasselblad, I have to take additional measures to insure that the tripod remains steady. Then again, these are probably beyond what this tripod was designed for.The case is a great way to store and carry the tripod.

5Oustanding addition to my Orion 10" Dob
By Herr Kottkamp
In short, if you have an Orion SkyQuest scope, you need this device. It is easy to use, very accurate and immeasurably helpful in locating Messier and deep sky objects that you might not ever find. It is particularly useful in suburban skies like mine, which suffer from moderate light pollution. It allows you to get a quick fix on targets when secondary stars can be difficult to pinpoint as a frame of reference. Well worth the investment.

4Simple work-horse, decent job of supporting just over 20lbs.
By eye in the sky
I have been pleased with this mount since I bought it in 2010. I have used it to support three different optical tube assemblies, none of them greater than 8" aperture. It presently supports an F12 iOptron 150mm Mak, which weights 20lbs when fully assembled; finder scope, diagonal mirror, eyepiece. I very often use 2" eyepieces and one of them is a heavy Teleview, with that I am very close to or just exceeding 20lbs. I have good steady images that don't wobble and are easy to focus at high magnification. However I do believe the 20 lb limit is a correct assessment and this does place a limit on potential future purchases of different optical tubes. The design ergonomics of the mount are all overall pleasing, though one of the fine adjustment knobs has fallen/popped off occasionally and I have to keep an eye out for that and pop it back on sometimes. The fine adjustment knobs could be a bit better made so that wouldn't be an issue.Due to competing storage requirements of my modest sized house, I have to store the mount and scope partially dissembled. This particular mount works very well for the grab and go back yard type of astronomy I do late and night and in the early morning hours. More robust mounts and electronic systems would be nice to own, but these might make my assembly and diss-assembly a longer chore. Since this mount is simple in it's design I can put it together and have it in use in practically no time at all.

4EQ-1 Equatorial telescope mount
By Stephen
Seemed easy enough with the instructions to put together. The one thing I failed to realize (and I didn't see it mentioned anywhere as I researched the telescope equipment I bought) was that I needed the 1/4-20 adapter to mount the scope to the tripod. Therefore, I had to wait another week for it to be delivered.......I caulk it up to a beginners ignorance of all the essential parts needed to get started in sky-watching.
