I only buy Wusthof

I've been a professional chef for five years and I only buy Wusthof cutlery. The diamond sharpening steel is the best there is available. The steel will not only hone your blades but it will also sharpen them. Sometimes even better than a professional. The ten inch length is good if you have a knife of the same size, but I think it could be a bit longer.I prefer to use knives no longer than 10 inches unless required. My favorite knife is an 8" Chef's Knife from the Wusthof Classic collection. I use this steel at least once daily and use it on all my knives monthly. I wouldn't reccommend anything else for my Wusthof's.

Simply......GREAT !!!

Having read the reviews of a couple or three Professional Chefs, I ordered the Sharpening Steel and.........WOW!.....What a difference! I've had a 12" Diamond Steel from another brand and "Thought" it was good, and it is......however....this one is very superior! Now I can understand why the Professionals prefer this one. I have several Wusthof Knives and love each of them but had just never thought about the Sharpening Steel until I read the reviews. Great work, Wusthof! I very strongly recommend this Steel.

Love, Love, Love this Steel

I used a regular steel daily for many years. All that changed when a friend at work started using a (no name) diamond steel. I could immediately see and feel a difference in my knives' performances. Then I purchased the Wustoff Diamond Steel and noticed an even greater difference.Here's the thing.I attribute the difference to 2 things. The steel itself is slightly heavier. This gives one more control when honing a knife. There also seems to be a larger amount (ratio) and coarseness of diamond dust on the steel.

Mythical Rod of Sharpness!

Make no mistake, size does matter in a honing steel. After reading how another style Wusthof steel can pop out of the handle, I opted for this older model. While the steel is not solid through the handle, the base screws on, so there is no danger of the handle "popping off". The fluted "behive" handle gives a great grip. While this steel is a bit top-heavy due to the hollow handle, it is definitely worth the $100 savings over the rod-through-the-handle models. 12 inches means I can hone my largest chef knives with ease, and the exceptional hardness of the Wusthof steel ensures a razor edge with just a couple of strokes (providing, of course, that your knife already has a good sharp edge). Use this steel before every knife use and you will greatly extend the time between sharpenings. This is an excellent value - buy one today and your knives will love you long time.

Excellent Steel for straightening edges

I purchased this to replace a worn smooth steel that came with my Wusthof Classic knife set. This fine grade hone works beautifully to straighten all my knife edges. I learned to always use this just before the use of my knives instead of after. I can tell that my knife edges have a tendency to return to a slightly non-aligned state after sitting for a period of time and feel less sharp. Holding the steel vertically I use the lightest amount of pressure at a 20 degree angle about 4 passes on each side to return knife edges to razor sharpness. This steel is a larger diameter and finer roughness than most. I purchased the 12" version because I have the 10" and 12" chefs knives along with several 10" slicers and carvers and It easily fits into the Wusthof 35 slot knife blocks. If you have the room, the 14" version would be even better if you have knives longer than 10".

This is a medium grade ceramic whetstone suitable for sharpening all straight edged knives. Supplied in a wooden box - to provide safe storage This whetstone from Wusthof is two-sided the Gray side is coarse and the green side is fine. Grey side suitable for agressively removing metal from small flaws in the blade. The green side is used to acheive the sharp edge. By using gentle pressure, simply draw the edge of the blade in a 20-degree angle across the stone from the handle to the tip. Repeat this same motion on the other side of the knife. Immerse the stone in water before use for 10 minutes. Always place the stone on a flat surface make sure it is secure before sharpening. use the whole surface of the stone when sharpening to keep it from bowling out.

Not horrible, but not good either

This is not a high quality ceramic whetstone. The rough side is way too rough and leaves deep scratches in my blades. I'll add the caveat that I am not a professional knife sharpener but i am following the directions and not getting good results.

Take your time and do it right

Our knives started to get so dull that I had a hard time cutting tomatoes. No amount of honing got them back to their original sharpness, so I invested in the whetstone. I read the reviews and someone had said that the rough side of the stone scratched his knives, which could easily happen. But if you take your time and pay attention to the angle of your knife, than you shouldn't have a problem. I even watched some how to videos on YouTube. Now my knives are as sharp as the day I bought them.

This is quite an impressive set from lego.I love how they put so much into detail.It comes with Luke Skywalker and Obi-wan Kenobi with Luke's Landspeeder and a secret compartment for Luke's lightsaber.Lego has already made the landspeeder,but this is the new version with different colors and is bigger.You also get a little cantina set with a table with a secret compartment and the new minifig Greedo.I like the cantina alot cause you can recreate the seen with Greedo and Han Solo.it also comes with a movable cantina bar and moving door that you can adjust however you like.The set also comes with a dewback and the new sandtrooper minifig.He comes whith a stick to guide the dewback and a backpack.Oh I almost forgot here is a little tip use the pieces from the cantina and a bigger base and make a bigger cantina.I hope this will help some people.

I liked this set alot because it has some really good figs - greedo for example but it is called mos eisley cantina. I think it should be called mos eisley cantina room because there is only one room of the cantina. But it did come with greedo, a shocktrooper sandtrooper, and a dewback which are exclusive!!

Mos Eisley Cantina (LEGO 4501) is one of my favorite LEGO sets. This is the only set in which you can get a Greedo minifigure (one of the best minifigures, in my opinion) and a Dewback. Also included with the set are minifigures of Han Solo, Obi-Wan (as played by Alec Guinness), young Luke Skywalker, and a Sandtrooper.The remake of the landspeeder is well done and closer to the original color from Episode IV than LEGO 7110 Landspeeder. The cantina itself is small - one room with two tables and two chairs - but constructed from solid pieces with appropriate colors. I am hoping that LEGO will produce companion sets that include other famous characters from the cantina (Hammerhead, the band, Snaggletooth, Walrus Man, etc.) I highly recommend this set to any Star Wars collector or fan.
