5PrairieView ramps
By TarHeel Mom
We bought three Prairie View ramps when my elderly parents moved into our home. They were just what we needed to help my Dad who had Parkinson's disease. Plusses: The non-skid surface is good even when wet. The ramps are solid even though they are portable. They are not light but are liftable. Minuses: Using his walker, my Dad was a little afraid of the space in the center where the ramp can be folded. We solved the problem by laying a rubber doormat on the ramp to cover the opening. The ramps were perfect for the wheelchair. I did have to help my Dad steer his electric scooter onto the ramp--the three-foot width was wide enough for the electric scooter, but his driving skills were not always the best as his health declined. I would buy these ramps again. Note: I paid around $132 in March 2009 for the 3'x30" ramp and received free super saver shipping for it and the 5' x 30" ($220)and 10' x 30" ($550).

5Mat is Sturdy
By Julia A. Nordling
The mat is sturdy even on padded carpeting so it doesn't sag and, therefore, hopefully won't crack like the thinner mat we had previously.

4Works as it claims

Bought this for a visually impaired family member. It only announces the number, not name. Only real drawback. Decent price. Has worked without incident for about 4 months. Very happy with this product.

5Solid and Reliable
By Dan M
This is a great solution to plain caller id. I am so used to hearing who is calling that when I visit friends homes and the phone rings, I find myself listening for the VA500 to announce who it is. I don't ever want to be without this product. I think that I will try the deluxe model next. ClassCo 9900CW Voice Announce Talking Caller ID with Call Waiting (Brand New)

Classco Caller ID Voice Announ Telephone.Product offers the services the description claims. Small size electronic equipment, but it is loud enough to be hear throughout the entire house. I am please with it, but I wish it would have the name announcement as well as the phone number as I do not always remember people's phone numbers.Certainly a good buy for the price.

5Great buy to save your arms!
By L. Stern
About 3 months ago, I developed the most painful tendonitis in my elbow. It was hard to bend my arm up and down without wincing in pain. I went to my doctor who diagnosed tennis elbow caused by poor positioning while using the mouse and keyboard for my computer. I had been using an external track pad for my Mac on my desktop. I started months of expensive physical therapy. The first thing I was told to do was to reposition my keyboard and mouse on an under desk shelf to allow for a 90 degree angle at the elbow. That is why I bought this Bush articulating keyboard shelf.I went to an office furniture store and looked around at all the models on the floor. I saw this one mounted on a Bush desk. I have just a plain Ikea table as a desk, but I liked the way this model adjusted, so I sent for it from Amazon. It is not the simplest model to install. With my bad arm, I had to have my step-daughter crawl under the desk to drill the holes for the screws. But the directions were good. They give you a template to mark the holes for the screws. She had it installed in less than an hour. The shelf is sturdy and adjustable which is great for me as I am shorter than average. It pushes in under the desk and out of the way when you need it to be. When you need to use it, it slides right out very smoothly. It has been a life saver as I recover from the tendonitis. I am trying to keep my posture just right to avoid exacerbating the problem.I highly recommend this shelf and feel it is well worth the money!

3Comparison of the Original and the Advanced
By Littlebee's mom
I used the Medela pump in style original shoulder bag for the first 6 months, then purchased the pump in style advanced backpack to use at work. I continue to use both. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Bottom line--the advanced gets the milk out a little bit faster (cuts 5-10 minutes off of pumping, but I still have to pump for at least 15 minutes), and the advanced occasionally gives me an ounce or two more milk than the original, but the original was perfectly adequate too. Which one you like better will depend on your let down cycle. I spoke with Medela and they confirmed that the advanced may be difficult to use for women who experience multiple letdowns or have a difficult time letting down. The advanced sucks quickly for 2 minutes to trigger letdown, then switches to slow, deep suction to extract the fatty hindmilk. The advanced assumes that you will let down within the first two minutes of rapid sucking, then the rest of your milk will be expressed in the phase 2 slow suction. However, if you have several letdowns with a little bit of milk coming out each time like me, then after each cycle of letdown (when your milk stops coming out), you have to turn the unit off and then on again to put it into the initial two minute let down phase to trigger another fast letdown. It's kind of a pain, but not that big of a deal and works ok. Just be warned that the 2 minute computer program is better suited for women who have 1 big letdown and can get all of the milk out in one cycle. The other alternative is to just let the machine run in the slow sucking phase and wait for several letdowns to occur, which is exactly what you would have to do with the pump in style original anyway. It just speeds the process to have the advanced and switch the unit off and then on again, though I'm concerned that long term this would not be good for the motor. Note that Medela actually told me that many women are having to do this though, and didn't caution me that it might break it. Here's some additional info (I haven't covered certain things that I think are adequately covered in other reviews, but if you have questions let me know):Pros of the Original shoulder tote:1. Simple to use, you can separately control the speed and the suction with separate knobs.2. It's not the fastest, but is perfectly adequate at getting out a decent amount of milk. It is totally reliable.3. It is relatively quiet.Cons of the Original shoulder tote:1. Takes anywhere from 5-15 minutes longer than the advanced (but before I tried the advanced I never thought that the Original was too slow or anything like that. It was not a problem. I still use it twice a day and think it's fine).2. Cooler isn't removable. Motor isn't removable.Pros of the Advanced backpack:1. Good storage pockets. More storage than the Original Traveler backpack, which I saw in the store.2. Cooler and motor are removable.3. Speeds up the pumping process by 5-15 minutes. Seems to give a bit more milk than the Original (but it doesn't double the amount of anything like that).Cons of the Advanced backpack:1. The microfiber bag on the advanced backpack and tote looks a little cheap. The Original traveler backpack looks better quality.2. The unit is loud.3. A bit more complicated to use, especially if you are just starting out pumping for the first time and don't know your letdown cycle too well. The instruction booklet stinks, so I would recommend calling Medela for tips about when to turn the unit off and then back on again to trigger letdown if you are having problems.4. There is only one control for both speed and suction. The instruction book doesn't tell you this (at least not that I can recall seeing), but fyi the Medela rep told me to actually turn the knob "down" when you want to increase the suction on the advanced, because that means slower, harder sucking on the advanced (on the original you would turn the suction knob "up" to mean harder sucking).A word about the manufacturer's defects: I researched this and spoke with Medela reps several times about it. There were 2 defects with the new model. First, the diaphragm faceplate on the early models pops off or is not snug, leading to weaker suction. Second, in the early model the rubber port plug that you need to keep plugged in when double pumping slips out, leading to weaker suction as well. In response, Medela did a subtle redesign of the faceplate which should cure the problem, and that's why you see people saying they've received replacement faceplates.Problem is, there is no way to tell if you are purchasing old stock or new stock, even from a big retailer like buy buy baby, so you won't know if you are getting one with the new model faceplate or not until it's too late. Just try to get the retailer to confirm that it's stock recently came from Medela. Once you buy it, check out the plug and faceplate, if it seems to be coming off or slipping out, call Medela and they should send you the replacement for free. Also, fyi, www.momsmaternity.com has the advanced shoulder tote and backpack for only $236. I just got it and it was brand new and works fine, plus they were very nice. This is not a plug for that website, since there are other internet sites that have it for as low as $204, I just wanted to share my good experience with that website fyi.In summary, the Original is perfectly adequate, but the Advanced is good if you want to save a few minutes, as long as you understand letdown cycles enough to be able to know when to turn it off and back on again if necessary. The Original is good because it's stood the test of time and is totally reliable and simple to use. I wouldn't purchase the advanced over the Original unless you think saving 5-10 minutes each time is important and getting 1 ounce or so more milk is worth the extra cost. It may work better for you than that, but I wouldn't expect it necessarily. I bought the advanced thinking it was going to double the amount that I pump out and cut pumping down from 20 to 5 minutes, and that hasn't happened(although it may work that way for you, just no guarantee), though I do appreciate the few minutes it saves each day.

5Worth the Extra Money!!!
By dinosgirl
I registered for and received the Avent Isis Back-To-Work Breast Pump Set as a shower gift. I had read several wonderful reviews and decided I didn't need an expensive pump if a less pricey one could do the same job. I really enjoyed it while I was at home the first seven weeks after my baby was born; however, when I returned to work and needed to pump four times a day, five days a week, I found it didn't meet my expectations. I needed a pump that could express my milk in a minimal amount of time due to limited break times at my job.

After some more research I began to look into the Medela Pump in Style and the Traveler Pump in Style. I figured that even though both were quite pricey, it would be worth it to me in the long run since I plan to breastfeed for at least a year and want to stay away from formula. I was planning on purchasing the Traveler Pump in Style when the Pump in Style Advanced came out. It was more than I planned to spend, but I decided to try it due to reviews claiming it cut down on time spent pumping. I haven't been disappointed. I can pump 5-6 oz. in five minutes and up to 10 oz. in 10-15 minutes. I used to only get a maximum of 4 oz. from my Avent Isis Pump after at least twenty minutes of pumping. The Pump in Style Advanced is also comfortable to use, easy to assemble and disassemble, and the bag is stylish and discreet with plenty of storage room. Of course clean up can take a few minutes, but that is true with any pump.

I would highly recommend the Pump in Style Advanced for the working mom who wants to continue breastfeeding (or using only breastmilk) for any extended length of time. I have never had to use formula and feel wonderful knowing my baby is getting the best nutrition he needs even when it comes from a bottle. Definitely worth the extra money!

4Like it, but the original Pump in Style was better
By Stephanie Carson
Before I purchased my own pump, I borrowed a friend's. She had the Pump in Style Original model, which she'd purchased and not used. The original model was fast, quiet and very easy to use. Since I take the pump to work with me every day, I also liked the fact that it looked like a leather case, possibly a thick computer bag. It was a very tailored, which I liked. When my friend had her second baby a month ago, I decided to purchase the Pump in Style Advanced Shoulder Bag. My first impression when I opened the box was that it looked cheaper than the original model - it's in a black microfiber bag, which just doesn't look as professional as the original (though it's more expensive than the original). I wasn't thrilled with that fact, but figured that it would work just as well and that was what mattered. I began using the pump right away and found some additional features that I'm not fond of...1. The bag has a zipper that goes across the top of it; however, the bag is not a perfect rectangle - the sides of the bag are raised and attach to the straps. Because of the design, when you unzip the bag the opening does not stay open, so it's not easy to remove the pump accessories or the cooler. You have to hold the bag open and dig the contents out. Not a big deal, but kind of a pain.2. The "cooling element" does not stay very cold. With the original pump, I could freeze the cooling elements at night and use them all day the next day. They would be frozen in the morning and still really cold at night. With the Advanced cooling element, I worry about the milk getting too warm, so I put the element in the freezer at work to make sure that the milk will stay cold until I get home.3. The double pump plug, which you plug in when you are pumping both sides at the same time, slips out of the outlet frequently while I'm pumping. I have to re-insert the plug several times during each pumping session, which isn't easy to do when you don't have a free hand.4. Though a nice feature to have, the Let Down button is not easy to push when you're trying to pump on both sides. The button is not very easy to depress.5. The pump is loud! I pump in a room that is next to an office. I'm always worried that the person in that office will hear the sound of the pump motor and wonder what I'm up to!There are a few things I really do like about this pump. Some of them are:1. The pump accessorry kit (mechanisms you hold to your breasts, which connect to the bottles) can be taken apart making it really easy to clean and dry them after each pumping session. The original model kit could not be taken apart.2. The Advanced pump seems to express as much milk as the original model did, though it seems to do it in a shorter amount of time.3. I really like the removable cooler - especially since the cooling element does not stay cold all day. I can at least put the cooler in the refrigerator to keep the milk cold while I'm at work.4. Though cumbersome to use, I do like the Let Down feature. I think that is probably what helps me express my milk faster.Though I do not like some of the features, I do feel that this is a good pump; however, if given the option, I would choose the Original model over the Advanced.

5Awesome, excellent stepper. Good as anything at the health club.
By Pamela Rice
I wrote the following when my stepper was still new. Over months of use I have changed my mind on the product. First, the two most important bolts on the product were not made of galvanized steel. Both simply broke in separate events, mid-step. I replaced those bolts at great inconvenience... Eventually, the entire unit had to be replaced because the gear wheel groove wore down so that the pedals no longer came up to the top anymore, no matter how tight you screwed in the back knob. Call me stupid, but I repurchased the unit. I'll keep you posted to see if these long-term problems have been rectified. My current evaluation: General design is excellent. Materials doubtful.Following is my original review....I rarely do this. Who has time to review products? But with this item, I feel the world needs to know how great it is. I can't say I know every home stepper out there, but I have been burned before. And I used to pay a lot for a health club membership, largely because it had a great step machine. My advice for now: Just buy this one. It's as good as the one I used at the health club; I mean it! You will not find anything better. And here's why. Smooth, quiet, compact, solid (well made), adjustable, and consistent. I include "consistent," because one stepper I owned was almost impossible to operate until it heated up - imagine that? But not the Mini Stepper Exerciser: Get on it, and your first step is just like your last, and I'm on the equipment for as much as an hour at a time. A long time, you say? That's nothing. Because the hardest part about exercising is finding time to do it. And a lot of people don't want to dedicate that time. And that's what's good about the Mini Stepper Exerciser. You can do it while you do something you probably already do: watch TV. Imagine working out your calves, thighs, and all the way up to your butt and even beyond while you watch Dexter. Now, just two important tips I'd like to mention about this machine. Your stepper can start to squeak. Don't put up with it; you can get it back to total quiet mode with teflon lubricant (from the bicycle shop). If you don't find the "spot," keep spraying every moving joint. Sometimes it takes overnight for the lubricant to reach the squeak. Also, read the directions about adjustment: To get to the highest, hardest step level, raise both steps at once to their highest level, then turn the knob. You may need to keep turning, even if you think you've got it all the way if you want to step high and hard. I wasn't raving about this machine until I figured out how to get it to a worthwhile level. Oh, and here's a trick for those athletic types (yes, I'm one of those): put an old pillow under the feet when you step. Really. The new thinking with exercise is, be off balance when you do it. Using the pillow this way is the equivalent of running on sand in your bare feet or doing crunches on a stability ball. Instability works the deeper, smaller muscles that simple movements, alone, don't give you. Hey, get off that couch, boys and girls. It's so important. And sure, watch the tube, but become a stepping potato from now on. This item is your answer to all your exercise dilemmas.

5Age doesn't matter
By Andrea Bearden-Kuhns
I do as much research on a product as possible before I buy, Amazon has never steered me wrong. There are lots of mini-steppers out there, and not being able to try this before purchase, I had to rely on reviews from others. So, I am 2 months away from 70 and try to walk, some hiking weather permitting. However, getting on the stepper beats a walk on the beach. I was amazed at the weight of it, my husband, a retired engineer was sceptical when he first saw it, but the weight and solid construction changed his mind. I felt the burn right away, I thought I was in fairly decent shape, not.Two things - first, I have a trekking pole which I found helpful in balance, secondly, I turned on my iTunes visualizer on my iMac and pumped up some disco. The company which sold this was excellent in communicating with me regarding shipping. Worth the price I paid.

3decent stepper
By Tracy
First, thanks to an earlier reviewer, Pamela, for her advice on lubricating the stepper. This is a decent little device -- doesn't take up a lot of room, great for using in front of the tv and then sticking in a corner later. You can work up a sweat if you use it for awhile (I do 40 minutes to an hour) and keep up the pace. I don't think it replaces a real workout, but it's excellent for the days when you don't have much time or can't get to the gym.Two problems:1. You can't really adjust the tension. The knob just doesn't do much.2. After awhile, it develops a truly hideous squeak -- so loud and irritating I was afraid to use it while my husband was sleeping, in case it woke him up from two rooms away. WD-40 did nothing. However, another reviewer here recommended trying Teflon lubricant from a bike store -- I did that, and the squeaking is gone. The machine isn't totally silent, it still makes a clicking noise (I believe from a plastic part interacting with a metal part) but it's usable again. If you have this problem, apply the teflon lubricant liberally to every part that looks like it might squeak and leave overnight. It should be fine again in the morning.

5Blows Like There's No Tomorrow!
By Steve Skidmark™
Having tried and found wanting so many puny underpowered leaf blowers on my sprawling, tree-infested property, I was understandably aroused by the Merry Mac's promise to deliver a staggering 200 MPH of punishment to the interminable plague of leaves festooning my lawn. Her debut performance was flawless, and, notwithstanding the old rake in my garage, the Merry Mac is without peer. However, her 10 horsepower engine means that this gusty little number can blow more than just leaves. After all, she is displacing no less than 2000 cubic feet of air per minute. Every minute. To date, I have used her to blast asunder many varieties of foreign debris, including but not limited to shrubs, squirrels, and (with some satisfaction) those irksome Stilton kids from up the street. The Merry Mac has proven to be a great timesaver as well. Having blown the greatest portion of turf from my yard, I find mowing to be less a concern. More time to spend with the Merry Mac! Consequently I look for *any* excuse to fire her up, e.g. when my feeble-minded neighbors start muttering about noise or soil erosion.

5Must have for any type of canning.

The Maslin pan is a must for anyone who makes jams, jellies or any preserves on a regular or large scale. The pan features a volume measurement scale in both English and metric on the inside. The heat distribution throughout is excellent, the handle does not get too hot allowing for easy movement of the pan and / or decanting the contents. It is easy to clean and has a very good looking brushed finish. In addition i have to compliment Golda's Kitchen from whom i bought the pan. Their turnaround time was amazing and they assisted me with some queries with the utmost of professionalism! Well done, you set a standard for many others to follow!

5Beautiful pan
By polly urethane
I am an avid jam and jelly maker. This pan has an easy pour spout and a graduated measuring table inside the pan. These features rock. I like the stabilizer handle opposite of the pour spout because it really makes for a more steady pour.

5Very Best
By Ryan Bard
I purchased this to cut about 8 door jambs and one very large room around the entire base perimeter. It took about 15 minutes... This is the fastest easiest tool to use. Only negative is you have to set the depth to zero each time to put it back in the case. For the time saved this tool is well worth the money!

5Great Product - superior to regular CDs
By DVD
Minidiscs are the way to go!! You never need to worry about getting scratches or fingerprints on the discs. Sony also claims that you can record and re-write their minidiscs up to one million times! I can't understand why minidiscs aren't as popular in the US as they are in Europe and the Far East. They are so much easier to handle and store than regular CDs. I highly recommend this product and hopefully they will catch on in the US.

4Great durability.
By Humming bird
My husband is a die hard mini disk fan. We still have some from when Sony first came out with the rainbow colors. They last a really long time compared to Memorex which I can say is wearing out alot quicker. The only reason I am giving it 3 *'s is because I would rather they come all black as a choice as well.

4Good product, but no fm transmitter
By A Customer
I really like Sirius in the week I have had it. It does have a couple of limitations - I drive through redwoods and the tall trees block the satillite signal - but in open space it offers a great choice of good radio. Best of all will be live transmissions of NFL games this fall. This particular Model of the Dock does not come with the FM transmitter and is misrepresented on Amazon as having one. The RCA cable provides the best transmission if you have one on your car radio - mine has a cd player plugin up front, and so this model is fine - but if you do not have a plug, you need the SIRCK1 also available on Amazon. I have one of each for two vehicles. Crutchfield Electronics does a good job of explaining the ins and outs of satillite radio at http://www.crutchfield.com/S-PoBcP2NKj9q/sirius/.

4big but worth it
By Fuzzy
I have had sirius for 5 years and the base on my radio became loose. I replaced it immediately and can still listen to the sirius I love. This model is a little big a nd clunky looking- the newer models are much sleeker, but it does the job just as well.

2Wrong Choice
By Sparkowitz
We have a flat screen LCD and thought this shelf system would be ideal to mount below the TV. We needed something that could handle the cable box, an XBOX and a DVD player, while managing all of the wires. Mounting was easy enough, provided you have a stud in the vicinity. We did, so no problems there. Drill a few holes and you are all set with the verticle part of the unit. This part, however, has a small (very small) groove in the back for wire management, but it is too small to be practical. Alternatively, the wires can be run along the front groove where the shelves mount, but because of the delicacy of the shelf mount, this is not recommended. More specifically, the shelves mount to the verticle beam via a small plate sized barely right and two tiny allen screws. While this has proven sturdy enough to handle the DVD player and the cable box, the shelf with XBOX has literally fallen twice, crashing down onto the floor (the temprered glass shelf survived and did not shatter). My wife is pregnant, and if we had a crawling baby around, this could have been a disaster. Consequently, I will be getting rid of this shelf system once the baby is born.In short, for very light duty in an adult home where wire management is not important, this unit is fine -- it looks good and is easy to mount. But if you have greater expectations, spend the extra money and get a higher quality system. I wish I had.

3Not big enough
By Trevor A. Roeder
This system was not big enough for my Yamaha RX-V757 reciever. The depth of the glass was not big enough, and the glass can only hold 25lbs, the receiver is 29lbs.

5One of the Best Wall Mount Systems
By R. Benoist
The wall mount works on the basis of mounting directly to a stud. The hardware is complete and effective. Once assembled, the shelves can swivel slightly to allow you access to the rear of the components and wiring. It is study and clean looking and one of the best wall mounts I found out there. I units I have on this wall mount are the surround sound/receiver from Pioneer, cable box and DVD player. I placed the receiver on the middle shelf and made sure to have 8" to 9" clearance from the upper shelf to allow for proper cooling.
