5Finally, straight cuts with a circular saw
By G. Chastain
I can not begin to describe how well this clamping tool guide works. It is easily adjustable to clamp on any width work piece but, obviously, this one was made to rip 8' sheet material. The guide has three levels of clamping force but the first level is enough to secure the guide so that it will not move during ripping. This guide absolutely does not bow to the side as you rip. You can press the base plate of your circular saw tight against the side of this guide and rip away. For the first time I can rip a full 8' sheet of plywood and the cut is consistent width the full length. This is virtually impossible to do with cheaper guides like the thin-gauge, two-piece one from Johnson. This guide has two t-slot tracks as well so you can design jigs and stops to attach to the guide. I purchased the optional 9"x12" HDPE saw plate for circular saws that runs in the T-track of the guide but I haven't used it yet. I don't know if I will ever have the need to. If the guide doesn't bow sideways, and believe me, this one doesn't, you can get a straight cut without the need of linking your circular saw to the guide with the optional plate. The guide has slots that allow you to insert optional ruled scales (SAE or metric). However, I have purchased these and they are no good. The measuring scale is made of thin plastic laminated on paper and is off by 1/8" within 48". See my review for the "All in One Clamp I-99 99-Inch Scale (English)" product. This applies to all the E. Emerson all in one measurement scales that I have purchased. However, the extra wide surface between the T-slots on the Ultra Wide clamp leaves plenty of room to add a quality adhesive backed measurement tape such as those sold for table saw rip fence rails. I plan to purchase one of those to enhance my Ultra Wide. This clamping tool guide is well worth the price and I'm glad I finally made myself try it. Do yourself a favor, through that cheap two-piece tool guide away, or that not quite straight piece of scrap lumber and buy one of these. You'll be glad you did when you start getting really straight cuts from your circular saw.I also have the 54" Ultra Wide, the 50" standard width and the 36" standard width. See my reviews for those too.

5A Ripping Great Straight Edge!
By The Garage
You could buy a straight piece of aluminum angle at any metal supplier and get a straight cut. What really makes the difference with the U99 is the clamping mechanism. The jaws at each end have an agressive grip that doesn't budge, and there's no slack to mess up your careful layout. I have a couple of shorter clamps (not Emersons) and they have a little play in one end or the other. With the U99 I've found that a spring clamp is needed at one end for set up just because it's so long. I spring clamp the free end on the mark then line up the other end and lock the Ultra All-in-one in place. Can you make something that works as well? You probably can, but I prefer to spend my time making things rather than making jigs. Also the shop made circular saw fences I've seen only work with one saw, I have three. The U99 is ready to use right out of the 9 foot long box.

5Great tool, simple to use and durable
By Electric Z
I now have three of these clamps. This one got broken by the carrier in shipping. I figure it got slammed on the end pretty hard as these are pretty tough. The blue ends are made of reinforced plastic and while durable with the right amount of force can be broken.Nonetheless, I called the company and they shipped out FedEx the replacement part. They spent enough time on the phone so they were sure I knew how to disassemble and put back together. Pretty easy actually. Now thats customer service and support.I sometimes use two of these together side by side when routing out dado's. They adjust easily and solidly clamp to most any size wood or table. I bought this to cut down a 4 X 8 sheet of plywood to manageable size and also to clamp onto my work bench when the need arises. This is solid enough you learn to rely on using the clamp when working on projects. There is no bend and you cannot find a better straight edge on the market.I just added the wide jaws and would recommend those as well. It just adds a little extra.Highly recommend the product and the company too!

5Powerful little monster
By A. W. Rouse
Big fan of panasonic cordless tools.. this is my 3rd. I was having a problem countersinking big screws into hardwood or cement board so based on some advice picked up this tool.. It took over where my very powerful 15.6 left off.. taking 3" screws that were stripped and wouldn't go in and countersinking them no problemo... the impact nature makes it less likely to break screws like the 15.6 does occasionally... I actually put a 3" screw about 1" countersunk into a FIR stud just testing out the capabilities. Quite literally it will keep driving most screws 'til you let go of the trigger, so better use a dimple bit on softer material.

caveat: i had a few minutes of buyers remorse when i first used it as it is QUITE loud.. make no mistake when this is working your house is 'under construction'.. however you do get quite used to it, it's definiately worse as a bystander.

I would rate it 4 1/2 stars for the one major problem: non standard chuck... argh on panasonic.. why why why? the solution to fix it is to put a slug of 1/4 hex cut off an old bit shank into the chuck or perhaps a couple #4 hex nuts (if that's what is 1/4"). .makes for easier removal if necessary... anyhow they did it so the double-headed bit that comes with fits nicer but makes NORMAL quick bits jam... and i have yet to find any bits whatsover including from panasonic that match the groove for the double headed quick bit that comes with.

The charger that comes with is awesome because it works up to 18V batts... i can bring one charger and all my tools someplace and can charge my drill, my impact or my saw no need for 3 chargers.

Until the torque load gets high enough it operates just like a drill, so small bits and small screws work great just like your drill and pretty much silent.

I'm thrilled with the driver it's possibly my favorite tool.. too bad it needs a hack to fix it, but with the fix it's flawless.

4great first generation
By ibuyer
I've used this impact screwdriver for a year and a half daily. So it's tough enough. It drives big screws like butter. Amazing! It drives Phillips as nicely as Robertson without stripping, also amazing. It is very short, so it easily fits between joists. The NiMh batteries are better than NiCd: they carry more power for their weight, are less finicky about charging technique, stay charged longer when unused, and charge rapidly.cons: Bits always get stuck in the hex chuck, requiring Visegrips to get them out. But I generally use a guide sleeve. Phillips bits sometimes shatter. Robertson bits sometimes jump out of the screwhead since virtually no force is needed to drive the screw. It is single-speed, so you have to be careful as the head sinks into the wood or sheetrock. Also, it's very very loud, requiring hearing protection. My other impact screwdriver is a Makita. That version has external ports for the motor brushes, and a built-in worklight. But it's hex chuck jams just the same.

4Excellent Screw Driver
By Serge Kavetsky
I guess everyone has already echoed my thoughts about this great product. Yes, it does drive large screws into hard wood, without stripping the heads or breaking the screws. It requires a lot less effort, so you don't get as tired at the end of the day. And yes it will be your most favorite tool of all. There are however some shortcomings that should be mentioned. First, it works best with a full battery. By the time the battery is half discharged, it will no longer drive large screws. The work around to this problem is to invest in a couple of Panasonic 12V 3.5Ah NiMH Batteries. These babies provide plenty of long lasting power. The other is the bit holder. The bits get stuck inside and are difficult to remove. The work around is to get a MagZilla Mag Bit Holder from www.mcfeelys.com for $10 and leave it in permanently. This bit holder will accept any kind of 1/4 bit you insert into it (short or long etc.) and hold it securely, yet releases it easily. With a setup like this, you have a tool that is truly rated at five stars.

4More than Golf
By Patrick C. Kelley
I frankly have zero interest in golf, but I did need a portable, light-duty rotary tool for cleaning battery contacts and light buffing, and this one does very well. It runs on disposable AA alkaline batteries rather than a rechargeable battery pack, and I consider that a plus, since it results in lower immediate cost and avoids the irritating self-discharge characteristics and lengthy recharge times of NiCd and NiMH batteries. Torque is limited, but ample for things other than metal grinding or wood routing. It's a useful tool.

5Battery powered convenience / less annoying noise
By rsu
The best price I've found for a battery-operated Dremel is the Golf Cleaning Tool Kit. Similar tools, albeit with sanding drum attachments, are sold as "pet grooming tools" and cost significantly more. I use this tool regularly for grinding toenails on my show dogs and find they vastly prefer this battery-operated tool to a corded, electric one. This tool is capable of many traditional high speed/low torque rotary tool tasks. If you're looking for battery powered convenience (4-AA batteries), I highly recommend this two-speed tool. Battery life is reasonable and though the tool is not too cumbersome in the hand for most jobs, if you have a job that requires you to hold it like a pencil it can become a bit fatiguing (it's pretty heavy at the end opposite your work.) The button-lock means you don't have to fool around with small wrenches to tighten or loosen the collett when changing attachments. If you find instances where the convenience of battery operability is of paramount importance, this is a very plausible tool to consider.

4Not Just for Golf Balls!
By Michael J. Mckinney Jr.
I am a modder, and I used to use this a lot on many different mods that I work on (game consoles, routers, laptops etc.). The portability is really nice, though the power isn't as strong as some other rotary tools like the black & decker rtx-b in particular. With fully charged batteries, it can cut through alot of materials, but dont expect to be able to drill through any metal. The only thing that could make it better is if they included an upconverter in the rotary tool. That way, instead of the tool slowing down when the batteries start dying, it will continue to operate at a good speed until the batteries are completely drained. I highly suggested it if you NEED something cordless or if your doing quick or lightweight work (trimming pet nails, etching some plexiglass, etc.) However, if your going to be working on a project for some time or if your cutting plexi, I would have to suggest the black and decker rtx-b or rtx-6 rotary tools (the other dremel rotary tools are highly overpriced in my opinion, and the black and decker ones have more amperage = torque = power = ability to cut through harder substances.)NOTE: Get some rechargeable batteries, you'll thank yourself later.

5Great Dive Computer
By skidoctor
If you are looking for a dive computer that has most of the features, is easy to use and has a nice big display then this is a good choice. So far have used it on about 30 nitrox dives and it has worked like a champ. have knocked it around a bit and so far it has not had any issues with normal bumps and thumps. It was nice to use on night dives as the lighted display was very easy to read. If you are getting older and the tiny displays on the watches are hard to read then this dive computer is a good alternative. the only problem i have had so far is getting the correct cable as Oceanic has changed the connector between models.

5JBL Full size 63" Woody Magnum
By StandFor
Excellent Gun for the demanding water of California. As a Euro diver, I grew up with Pneumatic Mares Reef 70, and when I moved to CA, I brought my loved gun with me. During first dive I realized it "isn't going to cut it" in the Pacific water. My Californian native friend strongly suggested trying the JBL woody Magnum which just came out to the market, and has the same mechanism as the steel Magnum, which he used for 25 yrs, just built with wood.I found the mechanism very much to my liking as it very simple with very small room for failure. The wood is just beautiful and makes the whole gun like something you want to hang on the wall.I was worried first for it to band and twist, or even break, but very soon I learned to trust it, I abuse it, (using it to carry my fins and game bag on it while hiking to the car, use it as a stick to help balance myself getting out the water, or climbing them stair case) I used this for at list 50+ dives, and other then slings, is a charm.(Go for the full size 63" NOT the saw off short one)I use it for halibut, White Sea bass, and at times for smaller game like Cabazon, etc.Is aggressive and normally won't fail on you.Well, don't grease it, that was the only time it fail me, because the sand stuck to the grease... keep it sharp with W-40 or none at all. No grease, silicon, or anything that will attract sand. The slings will need to be replaced from time to time, but you can silicon grease the bands for much longer life span. (Right about the wish bone, that's where they dry and break)The tip I got with the gun was the Bull nose breakaway, which last me for long time until the shaft broke in it (it's a beefy piece of steel so you can keep sharpen it) it holds well all fish, and the break away is a must for California and bigger game.It have 3 bands, pretty easy to load and combined gives you lots of power to push the heavy spear. (you can use 7/8 as well if remember right, but it get to be a workout to load them, and you wont need as much power in most dives. If you are used to a single band euro slick gun with 1/4" spear you WILL be disappointed from the accuracy and lack of smoothness, the JBL will feel a bit clumsy. Yet I can tell you I never took my Excalibur in the California water since I bought it in hawaii, as slick as it is, I much prefer the beefy aggressive JBL magnum in my hand. And I trust it way more to shock and keep the fish, without losing it.The bands use steel wish bones, that go into the notches on the shaft, (not as slick as the roped ones, but do the job just right. The Bottom line is a great gun, and probably way more then you'll ever need, considered you dive brutal water as California. And for its price... oh... under $250- is a steal!
