5My bakery looks amazing with these maple table slabs.

I thought it would cost a fortune to make the improvements that needed to happen to my tables, but Grizzly delivered quality and affordability. I couldn't be more pleased.

5Beautiful quality Maple tops.
By G. T. Martin
We love our Grizzly Maple Table tops. I was afraid because they were only half the price of competitors we might be buying junk. These are beautiful quality wood throughout with a gorgeous finish. We couldn't be happier.

5NIce tabletops
By restauranteur
Nice pieces of wood for a reasonable price. Can't find even one thing to complain about. Ok, one thing since I have to write 20 words. The product description didn't tell me that the top surface has a glossy finish on it. Would have preferred unfinished but not a big problem.

5Excellent Workbench
By Warren McNeil
Thank you Amazon.com for making this workbench available. When I opened the box I thought, I could bowl on this thing. But, once the maple was on the Shop Fox base, it turned into a fantastic workshop addition. The 8' length offers plenty of room for projects and tools. I've also added 30" high storage shelves with casters on either side of the base.

3Refuse delivery if find any damage - no credit given
By A. Larsen
Short version:-Top is beautiful and well constructed-If damaged, refuse delivery-No credit given for keeping damaged top. Exchange is only option.Long version:No problem with the product itself. Sticker on the back indicates these are made by Michigan Maple Block Co. (website is [...]). Nice to see these made in USA.Shipping experience was poor. Top was minimally wrapped: a single layer of cardboard with plastic protector pieces on the corners. Shipping company did the rest: one corner of the box was torn away, and the middle was gouged. Unboxing revealed 10 other areas of damage (scratched, dented, gouged). Taking out some frustrations I suppose.According to Grizzly, there is no credit, gift certificate or otherwise, for accepting a damaged top. This contradicts what other reviewers have said here on Amazon about other Grizzly maple tops, but this is what they told me today (8/23/11).Your only option is to exchange it for another one. Fair enough. But be prepared to prove your case to Grizzly. In my case I spent more time than I cared for getting photos of the damage to Grizzly and following up on multiple phone calls and e-mails with them.If I was going to do this again, I would have refused delivery. Have them keep sending 'em until an undamaged one arrives.

5Terrific bargain in a strong, quality, maple work top
By Victor H. Agresti
Grizzly G9916 Solid Maple Workbench Top 96" Wide x 30" Deep x 1-3/4" ThickI'm using this workbench top as a counter-top with a sink inserted, in an enclosed garden room. (See Customer Images.) It looks great and is eminently practical, since the top can be used for virtually any type of project. We had considered buying one of those Formica-type counter-tops sold by Lowes or HD, but they are pathetic compared to solid maple. The wood is exactly the size Grizzly specifies. Search the Internet for comparable maple tops of this size and you'll see what a terrific bargain this one is. It's well made, very strong, the edges are slightly rounded, and the top and sides are sanded and finished. Of course, it's very heavy, so you'll need help to move it around.I ordered it on a Saturday and the driver pulled up to the house the following Wednesday. I helped him carry it into the garage. It's a very impressive product, especially for the money.

5Beautiful Table Top, Excellent Service
By Bozodius
I received the table in excellent condition. In fact, it's so beautiful that I'm going to delay using it as a work bench! My old pine top kitchen table will have to do for now. It was flat in the length with about 1/16" variance in the width. The info attached says to allow time for the top to settle in to the humidity levels before making any adjustments. The delivery was expensive:however, it is a heavy top and arrived undamaged. Not only that, the fed ex driver helped me tote it up 4 1/2 flights of stairs since my arm had a minor injury and the elevator was down for a week. The shipping company has you set up an appointment with a 2 hour window. Mine was about an hour late so don't panic--it's worth the wait.

4Top is Durable and Attractive
By Richard Koplow
This top has served me well for several months in use as a built-in table-top for the kitchen. My wife insisted on butcher block and I wasn't about to take out a second mortgage for a Boos top; Lumber Liquidators tops were too large, and Ikea was out of stock; so I tried this item for its solidity and thickness, and for its reasonable cost and shipping charges. I was fortunate that the top I received is very satisfactory in appearance for kitchen use and is heavy and sturdily constructed. Due to its rigidity, I was able to mount this solidly on a cantilever with only the last ten or twelve inches supported, doing away entirely with supports I had planned for the far side, leaving plenty of leg room for two chairs. Since these are sold for workshop use I cannot guess whether all the stock will be attractive enough for kitchen use, but the construction is certainly of good quality.

5Excellent Product!
By C. Hedberg
I ordered two of these for my garage work bench and was amazed at the finish quality. They were almost too pretty to use for a work bench! They were so nice that after I installed them I kept wiping the down with soap and water because I didn't want them dirty. Thankfully I eventually put my first scratch in one and got over the cleaning OCD thing. Anyway, these are very solid tops with a very nice finish on them. Not sure what else you can really say about a block of wood? My only complaint (and this is really minor) is that they weren't available in a 72" x 24" size. I had to butt two of the 36" x 24" blocks together to get my work bench. I can't blame the company though, as it would be impossible for them to make every single size that anyone would ever want. Great product; highly recommend!

5Industrial Quality at a reasonable price
By Todd R. Solomon
If you have the opportunity to step up to a 12" jointer, by all means do it- This thing has enabled me to surface some beatiful wide boards that otherwise would've been ripped into narrow strips, ruining their beautiful bookmatching potential. I've had it for a year now, and continue to be impressed. This is part of Grizzly's higher-end line of "Ultimate Jointers," and appears to be 90% the same machine as the General International, Bridgewood, Extrema, and some other 12" models. You can get it for substantially less than the General, and somewhat less than the others. They all have slightly different pros and cons. The Grizzly has the highest cutterhead speed at 5900 RPM, but doesn't have the Baldor motor or the 4-knife cutterhead that the Bridgewood has (my other choice, but the wait list was too long for me and shipping was astronomical). They all have the same frame and high quality table adjusting mechanism.Grizzly delivered it in a bullet-proof crate, and it came less than a week after order, delivered by Fed Ex Freight (very polite, helpful driver).General fit and finish is very good. Nice heavy duty controls. The 80" total length tables are flawless, with a near-mirror finish. I could not get a .001" shim under my straight edge over each 39" table- dead flat. They were also adjusted perfectly parallel from the factory- and I mean perfect. Again, less than .001" over my 6' straight edge. The table height mechanism adjusts each table with a large diameter wheel that is easily and precisely moved. Like all Asian castings, time will tell if they will warp, but initial quality is A1.The fence is fairly average, but adequate. It is bowed by about .015", but has no twist. Grizzly's customer service proved worthless on remedying this. I sent it in to them, and their tech claimed it was perfectly flat. Sure enough, I got it back, and verified on a granite surface plate that it was .015" out. In the end, it doesn't affect squareness of cut because it has no twist, so it's not a biggie. I don't like the sharp edge that slides on the outfeed table when it is adjusted (a problem many jointers have). I'll fix that with a block of UHMW or something similar. The knives are all within about .001", according to the dial indicator. It is very smooth and quiet in operation. The finish is impressive, glass smooth with ripples barely noticeable- as good as or better than my previous Mini Max jointer/planer.One motivator for this machine is that Byrd makes a helical cutterhead for it for $795, and I will likely upgrade to it in the near future. This is one reason why I wasn't concerned with the 3-knife cutterhead, where the Bridgewood has 4. I have a Byrd cutterhead on order in my new 22" Oliver planer. If it proves to be everything I anticipate, then I'll also get a Byrd for this jointer.I really, really like this machine. Aside from the fence (which should be easily remedied), I am completely satisfied and grinning.Grizzly is hit-and-miss on woodworking tools. This is a home-run winner.

5If quality is your first thought this is it
By JV cab
I love this machine!Delivery is some what of a challenge unless you own a fork lift.My shop is behind my home and 200 feet from the road. I found out that you must make arrangements to get it from the street to your shop, well at 1200+lbs. that turned out to be a challenge.I was able to borrow a box truck with a 3K lift on the back and pick it up at the terminal. With the help of a friend, a pallet jack, and a 1200lb engine hoist I made it to the shop. It was all worth it what a machine!! The tables are dead flat with an almost mirror finish. I have had a six inch Delta Joiner for years and it did a good job but there is no comparison to the this Grizzly machine. Moving to the 12 inch was worth it. I almost went with a 8 inch but after having to cut expensive wood down to 6 inches and re glue I decided not to settle for less than the 12 inch. Most joiners I researched larger, than 12 inch required, 3 phase power which is not a option in my area. . I checked the knives and out feed table they were dead on. installing the fence (heavy) and control box were straight forward. The best surprise was turning it on for the first time, so smooth, no vibration, NONE, and for a machine this size it is quiet. Even though it only has a three knife head it cuts smooth no ripples (5900 RPM makes a difference). Update, While cleaning the cutter head, trying to get the last bit of grease I discovered that the cutter head has 4 knives NOT three. Great surprise!

4Grizzly 4x6" swivel head band saw
By Dave Dennison
Overall this is a very good unit. There was a problem with the packaging of the panals for the base. They were in plastic bags and in shipping some minor damage to paint was present. Also when the base panals were painted none of the tapped holes were protected from paint. If a person uses the proper blade, speed, feed this machine does a great job. Very good results, one thing I wish it had is a coolant pan and return to the pump. Also came pre-wired for 110 volts can be changed to 220 single phase.

4Good value - after 4 years I would buy again
By G. Conway
I've had this bandsaw for 4 years using it lightly on weekends. Turns out to be one of the most important metal working tools to have. Rated 5" x 6" it will actually cut almost 7" of flat stock -the clearance on mine is right on 7". Without question it cuts great every time. The only blade I broke was replaced by Grizzly at no cost as it broke at the weld. It is very easy to get a feel for how hard the machine is working, to know how fast to lower the blade and what speed to use. Coolant is messy so I don't use it, instead I cut a good bit slower than one could with coolant.I do however have two complaints - my first is that the blade roller guides are difficult to adjust. To set the height of the back of the blade bearings required a 13mm wrench that when used hits the side bearing adjustment nuts. You can see this in pictures in the manual [...].It makes this fortunately infrequent adjustment tedious - but it does work. These guide fittings are also quite a sloppy fit (ISO9001??) such that you need to set the blade vertical by eye by tilting the guide while carefully avoiding knocking the side bearing nuts.My second complaint is that while the auto stop lever does work it requires lifting the blade very high in order to provide enough space to turn the switch on. I reworked the shape of the bracket but it helped little and in practice I don't use the auto stop. But I could slip it back on easily enough.Overall for my use it is a very good saw, and I expect I would buy it again. The hydraulic lowering device works beautifully and consistently and the swivel head feature would be hard to do without.I would however eagerly compare with other saws in this price range just in case. I must say I have 4 large woodworking machines plus a metalworking mill and lathe from Grizzly each of which I carefully compared with machines costing sometimes 2-3 times as much. In each case I have been really happy with Grizzly product.
