A new and affordable L-series ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that's ideal for both film and digital SLRs. Superior optics are assured by the use of three aspherical lens elements, in addition to a Super UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) glass element. Optical coatings are optimized for use with digital cameras. A perfect start for upgrading to L-lenses and high quality lenses

When looking to upgrade and making that shift from either beginner to intermediate to pro, this piece of glass is well worth the investment. The morning I got this I went straight from the camera store, to a skateboard event, to shooting a save the date to pulling over to a dirt road to shooting some stars. They all turned out crisp and clear on my 600d body, even at 25%,50%,75% and 100% crops the images were still amazing. Now it's not perfect but it's not faulty by any means. This lens preformed best outside and in the sun under bright light and early evening with a decent flash. Night shooting isn't the best but I'm sure you could make it work with the proper settings. My only other complaint would be the lack of IS in the lens. Some images can come out fuzzy or have a small amount of motion blur, this could also have been user error as the weight of both this new lens and a grip threw me a little off. For the price and quality this is a great lens and should become an essential part of your kit.
