5As good as the original
By Mark Twain
I have an APC Smart 1500 UPS which uses a RBC7 battery. As an APC partner, I wanted to get an APC replacement but did not want to pay almost double. The American Battery Co. RBC7 replacement battery has a two year warrantee. It was received (double boxed) via Fed Ex in one day. Except for the label, the battery was exactly the same as the original.APC is not a battery manufacturer (I suspect the American Battery Co. may be the OEM for APC).Recycling the old battery was easy and free at Auto Zone (dozens of other site were also listed on the internet).

5Good replacement battery for your APC UPS!
By Joey Ferguson
This battery was a perfect fit from the standpoint of how the case fit into the UPS housing, and a very nice and perfect tight fitting plug. Handy recessed areas in the case of the battery allow you to hold on to this heavy brute while you gingerly work it into the battery compartment. Make sure you get your connecting wiring in the right place before you slide the battery into the case. Once installed it and buttoned the case back up, I plugged up the unit and presto...the dependable APC UPS unit circuitry recognized the battery, and the green light was on...once again. Fast shipment and packed really well. No need to replace your UPS, just get a fresh battery!

5Good replacement with one gotcha!
By BleedingEdgeDotNet
The replacement battery's external appearance was very similar to the APC battery that it replaced. Of course, the important parts cannot be seen, only experienced...so time will tell. However, as one reviewer has noted, the plastic tab used to more easily remove the battery from the UPS housing was on the wrong end of the battery. It was attached to the same end as the electrical connector and would be useless if installed as delivered. Before installing the battery into my SmartUPS 1400 (discontinued model), I carefully removed the plastic tab (the adhesive is pretty strong) and moved it to the opposite end. Then I connected the terminals and easily slid the new battery into the UPS housing; the fit was fine. One small gotcha makes you wonder about quality control though; I have never seen this mistake when I have opted for APC replacement batteries.Update 8/26/2011Unfortunately, through no fault of the battery, I have just had to replace this battery. It seems I had plugged my UPS into an outlet that was controlled by a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter). The outlet is on the other side of a kitchen wall and I had never had any problems with it previously and was completely unaware that it was a GFCI circuit. Anyhow, I was gone for several months and the circuit had tripped (during a thunderstorm I think, because it just happened again last night). Once the circuit tripped, the UPS got no power. That's how you kill a UPS battery; let it drain and stay drained. I had removed everything from the UPS, but of course left it plugged in so it wouldn't die during my absence. Oh, well. I have since run a heavy power cord from a nearby non-GFCI outlet. Hopefully, this update will save someone else from making a similar mistake. Good luck!P.S. The latest replacement battery came with the plastic tab on the correct side! yay!
