The Royal Guard offers the ultimate in comfort, durability, and versatility. Worn inside the pants, it allows real-world concealment of even a large defensive pistol. Made with the rough side of the leather facing out for the greatest degree of stability, the Royal Guard’s innovative design creates a smooth leather pocket reinforced for sturdiness and protection, while also permitting unrestricted movement and easy reholstering. Combat grip accessibility, essential for speed, rounds out this most versatile of inside the pants holsters. Constructed of premium natural color horsehide, the Royal Guard fits 1 3/4" belts, with an optional belt channel that fits 1 1/4" belts. Made for semiautomatic pistols and double-action revolvers, the Royal Guard is available in right or left hand designs in natural finish. Optional tan or black belt channels, easily installed by the user, fitting belts of 1 1/4" and 1 3/4" are available and sold separately.

Comfortable, Concealable, Practical

I carry Kimber M-1911 .45s in 4" Commander style or 5" classic styles in with stainless steel or aluminum frames in Galco Royal Guardsman holsters. I carry these every day. What I want from a holster is one that will be comfortable to carry in any position that I find myself whether standing, seated, bent over, kneeling, or even crawling. This is a holster that I barely notice regardless of which of my pistols I'm carrying. Unlike many holsters I've owned. The rough out horse hide helps to keep the holster from riding up during a draw. This IWB holster is easily concealed under almost anything that will cover the butt of the pistol. it is easy and quick to draw from and the spring steel piece at the mouth of the holster makes it easy to re-holster as well. The holster fits my Kimbers and their predecessor M-1911s precisely and snugly (perhaps a little too snugly at first) aiding in retention even when hanging upside down by my legs. My oldest of these is now ten years old and worn smooth on the side that fits against my body. Of all of my concealed carry holsters this is easily my favorite even over similar Milt Sparks and Mitch Rosen designs and definitely my favorite of the entire Galco line.

I have worn this holster almost every day for the past ten years to carry a Government model 1911. After 10 years of daily use the holster shows virtually no wear. The natural horsehide is of course quite a bit darker now from daily use but that is it. I have a drawer full of other holsters that I tried before getting the Royal Guard. These other holsters are never used (with the exception of a Fobus C-21 that gets used on very hot days). The Royal Guard is absolutely the best when it comes to holding the firearm securely in the holster and close to the body. If proper attire is worn, the Royal Guard will not allow the pistol to print through your clothing. The holster stays put, it will not shift when transitioning from a vehicle or seated position. Very recently I purchased another Galco Product, the Kingtuk because I succumbed to the hyperbole expended upon that holster's "tuckability." My Kingtuk has already been relegated to the drawer of forgotten holsters and the Royal Guard is back where it has been for the last ten years, and where it belongs... By my side.

I love this holster, it is made of horse hide and tough as hell, rough swede on the outside to help keep it in place. I carry my Kimber Custom II full size 1911 in it. Awesome quality through and through!
