Nice Printer

PROs: The HL-6050D has outstanding text quality at 600 DPI and well over 20 ppm output speed. We haven't tried the 1200 DPI setting since 600 DPI produces very sharp text. The duplex mode is great--it will automatically collate and print booklets of any length. This is a heavy duty printer with many extra features and is well worth the cost. We don't know about long-term reliability yet, since we've only had it for about a week, but it does seem to be well designed and assembled. Easy software start-up on WindowsXP. (Be sure not to connect printer cable until Brother printer install program asks for it.) It's simple to install more memory DIMMs and a network card.CONs: Somewhat loud when printing, but it's okay for most office setups. Toners are about $90-100 for 7500 pages.

Not fancy, but it's been churning out prints for three years nonstop except for toner cartridge changes. No problem with varied paper stock. Great quality prints. What else can you ask for? A machine that prints money, maybe, but the Secret Service frowns on that sort of thing.

This is an excellent all around printer for small business use. Brother printers have always been reliable and a great value and this model is no exception. I have had it for about 4 months now and everyone in the office is pleased with it. We got the estimated yield from the starter cartridge so I expect I will get the same from the high yield cartridge. No jams or mis-feeds so far. The duplexing feature works well.
