4Features found on more expensive guitars...for a fraction of the cost!
By Pichan
I bought this guitar several weeks ago as a graduation gift because of 2 main reasons:- solid spruce top- gold Grover tunersThese are features typically found on guitars selling for much bigger bucks. When I received it, aside from the fact it did not appear to be new (minor scratches, missing packing etc...but it was in acceptable condition...could have been a "2nd" or a return?), it did not disappoint. The strings were D'Addario's, the action was good, no fret-buzz, nice tone & plucked harmonics. The neck, back & sides are not real mahogany...other reviewers here have done an excellent job researching this (see YOYO's review)...it is apparently "nato"...which is a less expensive mahogany-like wood...but it works! There is at least one Youtube clip on the internet of someone playing this model, and it sounds pretty good...and similar to the one I got.As a comparison, I have a Takamine/Jasmine S34C, Jasmine by Takamine S34C NEX Cutaway Acoustic Guitar, that cost ~$100, and while it is a perfectly fine base-level guitar, it cannot compete with the SD50N.If they would include a gig bag for protection, I would give it a full 5-stars...but even without, it is a no-brainer purchase...especially when it is in the Gold Box on sale, like today!I recommend buying this guitar at any price under $200, without reservation, and also suggest considering a gig bag or case, since you will want to protect this baby!EDIT: I discovered that they do offer a gig bag package: Silvertone SD50 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Package, and it costs about the same as the guitar by itself...

5Amazing sound, quality and price!
By Just Living
I purchased this guitar because the features versus price was very competitive. And then I was amazed at the sound. I don't think you can find a better sounding, better looking or better priced acoustic guitar anywhere. This thing is incredible, and sounds like a guitar that costs hundreds of dollars more. The craftsmanship is excellent, with the solid spruce top and mahogany sides, and the acoustic sound is unbelievable. Take a look around, but if you get the chance to play the Silvertone SD50, you'll be quite surprised.

5GREAT SOUND
By secondbushome
I got this guitar as a lightning deal and I'm glad I did. Out of the box, the guitar was a beauty, though it doesn't look like the picture shown... it was actually much prettier. The headstock is small and shapely. The Nato magohany sides and back and the pickguard was a dark red. The solid top was clear and bright Sitka spruce, contrasted with the red, the guitar looked very distinct and appealing. Even the rosewood bridge was redder than other rosewood I've seen. The solid top is kinda thin compared to other solid tops I've seen, but the sound was bright, defined, bouncy and crisp. Projection was good. This guitar is also VERY light.Playability: out of the box, the action was a bit high and the neck was a little bowed, so the setup needed a little touching up. It came with an allen wrench and instructions on how to operate the truss rod. After tightening it up a little, the action got better but still could be lower. Because of that however, there's no fret buzz at all and chords come out clean. The Grover tuners hold up well.Fit & Finish: The gold on the tuners already had some wear on it, some of the gold had been rubbed off, which was disappointing but expected from a guitar at this price. Another concern was the strap button on the body: it wasn't even glued in! There's no screw. I don't know if they did this on purpose, but it makes using a strap a concern since the button can be pulled out and it could very easily be pulled out. If yours come like this, I'd suggest gluing it in. It does make putting on a strap easier and wearing out the strap end less but it is a hazard for the strap to come off when standing up. Another nitpick, the pointed edge of the pickguard wasn't flush with the body, another glue fix. The rest of the pickguard was glued tight though. Aside from these complaints, the fit and finish was good. The frets were dressed well and nothing was rolling inside the body. This guitar is made in INDONESIA, not China like most guitars at this price range usually are. Given the fact that this is a solidtop, given it's beautiful sound and its adoring look, and given that all the little concerns mentioned before can be easily fixed, this guitar is a great buy for beginners to learn on and experienced players needing a backup or a solidtop 'beater' guitar. Slap on a pickup and you're ready for a gig!
