5Cruiser Snorkel Vest
By Patrick Curren
I wore this vest for 8 of the 10 days I was at St. John. It is very comfortable and looked good on me. I especially liked the snorkel design on the back of the vest. It was easy to put on and take off. There were days when I would wear it all day long between snorkel trips. The material on the back is made of a wet suit material. Only the front of the vest can be filled with air which is where it is needed anyway. The vest has but one pocket in the lower front area which is where I put my camera. This pocket has Velcro to seal it. For beginner snorkelers, I recommend a snorkel vest and even for experienced snorkelers I recommend one for the long snorkels. In choppy waters, it was reassuring to be able to fill the vest with air on the fly, rest up and continue on at my own relaxed pace.

5Peace of mind; priceless
By Diane
My husband purchased the Scubapro Cruiser Snorkeling vest for me to replace a Body Glove vest that is bulky and heavy just prior to a week long sail in the Caribbean three years ago; I am not a strong swimmer and have a tendency to feel panicky when I am tired. This vest is slim and sleek, providing buoyancy with the thin neoprene material that covers your back and under your arms (although the material is comfortable and soft on your salty skin, I wear a thin t-shirt underneath), The vest zips tight under your left arm; the plastic zipper seems very sturdy, and is very easy to use. For additional buoyancy, inflate the vest as much or little as you like using the tube on the left side of the chest for even more buoyancy; this tube is also used to deflate the vest to ease climbing into the yacht or dingy. The vest is extremely compact and lightweight for your suitcase, the material dries in a matter of an hour in the breeze over a line, and the bright yellow color makes it easy to spot you in the water. Unfortunately, it only comes in men's sizes; the first vest was too large and it was necessary to order a smaller size and pay for expedited shipping to take on that first trip. You definitely want a snug fit; too large and it rides up under your chin. The company accepted the return of the larger vest with no problem at all.It is too bad they do not offer this vest for children, but perhaps the reason is an adult should never depend upon a flotation device to keep your child safe. I am so much more comfortable wearing this vest and that means I get to enjoy the snorkeling that much more! I highly recommend this vest to anyone looking for comfort and peace of mind.

5Best Vest
By Trev on the Great Barrier Reef
Bought 2 of these for my wife and I for snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef over Christmas. Chose them as the only sensible alternative to ghastly life-jacket style things available from other suppliers. They look quite smart (almost stylish), so you don't feel like the odd one out when others are wearing rash vests. You may still need a rash vest or other protection from sun, because we both got sunburnt shoulders and upper arms. You may only need a little of the inflation (or even none at all because of the slight bouyancy of the vest itself) and it really helps to give comfortable flotation without effort. And keeps you comfortably warm too.I agree with other reviewers that you should get a "tight fit". It may seem too tight to zip up at first, and you may start off feeling a little squeezed, but you'll get used to it quickly and not be at all uncomfortable.Good quality construction and easy to use.My only negative comment is that, even when the vest itself is a good tight fit, the inflatable panel does ride-up a bit because, although it's stitched to the vest at the shoulders, it's more loosely attached to the vest by elastic straps at the waist so it has some free movement separate from the vest there. Oh yes, and the velcro fastened "pocket" at the bottom of the front panel is too small to hold anything much.Overall, a great product.Shame it's so expensive, and be ready to pay an extra £25 or so of import tax to the shipping company on delivery.
