Extended Barbie Family Member Purchased as a Collectible

Mattel's Happy Family Grandma is an extended family member addition to my Barbie AA Happy Family Alan and Ryan Dad and Son; and AA Happy Family Midge and Baby collection. I am pleased with Grandma's mature facial features as well as her hairstyle and graying color. Her fuller-than-Barbie figure is also very realistic for a mature woman. My collection will be complete after I locate AA Grandpa at a reasonable price.

Grandma Doll

I haven't seen any other grand parent barbies especially African American plastic dolls. The product was in good condition. All of the pieces in the box. Glad to have this timeless toy. Hopefully, other doll makers will reconsider making whole families (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, sisters and brothers) the same prototype as barbie. Overall good quality, fun to play with, close to "real" grandma.

Although I missed the original release of the Barbie Happy Family Dolls, I was ELATED to purchase this 'Grandma' doll. I was the 1st granddaughter to my maternal grandparents and named 'Frances' (middle name) in honor of not only my maternal but also paternal grandmother who shared the same first name. My Mom told me she named me right because even in my young days she said I had ways like both grandmothers. I was happy to see Mattel produce dolls that represent the inevitable change in life and this doll is a clear indication that just because we age and are 'grannys' we can still be BEAUTIFUL in the process!! I would also love to find the Grandpa doll at a good price as I found for this gorgeous Grandma doll.
