The Irwin Hanson 41-Piece Machine Screw / Fractional Tap and Hex Die Set includes machine screw taps, fractional plug style taps, and 5/8-inch hexagon dies in 17 different sizes. A DS-26 adjustable guide diestock and DS-57 plain diestock for cutting external threads on metal cylinders is included, as well as a TR-88 adjustable handle tap wrench to create internal screw threads, a TR-73 two-in-one tap wrench, and a TR-50 two-in-one tap wrench. There's also an 18-leaf standard thread pitch gauge, a screwdriver, and a handy plastic case to keep everything organized.

Irwin Tap and Die set

Great product at a fantastic price. I shopped the internet and was surprised to find this set priced so low. Mac tools sells the same set under their own label (in a red box) for over twice the price of this set. Most other web vendors sell the identical item for $40-50 more. The quality of the set is great--far superior to the Chinese imports. With care, it should last a lifetime. So far, one of the best deals I've found on Amazon.

I've had this Irwin 24606 tap and die set for several years and have found it to be very good quality. It is made in the USA and identical to the old Hanson and Ace Superset taps and dies I have, which apparently Irwin bought out.They are made from very good high carbon steel, not the soft steel that some of the cheap import sets you find at the auto parts stores are made with. I use this set all the time for general maintenance and repair work and find that it has a good selection of all the most common SAE sizes I run into on a daily basis, but is not so large and heavy that it can't still be easily carried in my tool bucket or bag if needed. Overall, I've been very pleased with the quality of this set. I think it was well worth what I paid and would have no problem recommending it.I also have the Irwin 26317 41-piece Metric set and it has been excellent as well, although I do sometimes wish that maybe the SAE and Metric sets came with different color cases, because they look identical from the outside and it seems like I'm always grabbing the wrong one off the shelf. I use adhesive thermal printer labels and spray paint to identify them, but the markings just end up peeling and wearing off after a while. A minor issue, for me anyway.

Get what you pay for

These were NOT inexpensive... but are worth the cost. They are obviously solid, well machined. Nice selection of sizes, good instruction chart included to choose proper drill bit size. This is the last set I'll ever need to buy.... Got what I paid for this time.
