The Heliopan 77mm UV SH-PMC Filter is not only an excellent filter for visually improving images made with either digital camera or shot on film, but it can always stay on the lens to protect the lens from fingerprints, dust, and moisture. It absorbs the short wave portion of the spectrum so in hazy conditions a better image of the scene is possible. Loss of sharpness from ultraviolet rays and the blue tones common in infinity scenes are eliminated. No exposure correction is needed.

No problems with nikon lens cap

I was concerned after reading the only review available on Amazon com regarding placing the lens cap on this filter. It is true that the front edge is thin but the Nikon lens cap fits perfectly without any problems. I got this to protect Nikon 80-400mm lens.

Seriously Heliopan glass is flawless. This filter has saved my lens more than once. I'd much rather spend a couple of hundred than have to fix or replace my fast lenses. Amazon periodically has these at 40% off, so when you see that, jump on it.

As any professional photographer will attest, Heliopan is the Maybach of lens filters. I have five (not counting spares). If you work with pro glass, primes, or if you're an image quality purist, this is the filter to own. Clear, crisp, natural tones.None better.
