The Heliopan 77mm Slim Circular Polarizer improves the color of the sky, (in distant pictures, mountain scenes, etc.) and reduces the bluish cast in landscapes. The darkest blue sky is achieved photographing objects at a 90° angle to the sun. In addition, polarizers enhance the color saturation of the scene by suppressing reflections from the subject's surface. Undesired reflections can largely be eliminated. The rim is calibrated to help in finding the proper setting when a through-the-lens preview is not available. Suitable for use with auto-focus cameras, cameras with through-the-lens metering and digital cameras.

Superb quality Pol filter (but with practical problems with suitable lens cap's due to the slim design)

This is an superb quality Pol filter. Too expensive ? No, since it's worth it's price and actually how often do we change our lens setup (with possible different filter diameters) ? At least for myself any modifications on my lens setup are very rare and it's totally worth to buy the best possible filters.The only downside is that due to it's slim design my lens cap (from the Tokina 12-24 mm f/4) does not fit when the Pol filter is attached to the lens, which leaves the filter/lens exposed between the shoots. So far I tried various alternative 77mm lens caps but none of them could fit. (This doesn't mean necessary that there is no solution, just I could find it yet).My rating what the quality concerns would be for sure 5 stars, but taking into consideration this practical problem I give 4 stars

Great filter

Heliopan filters use only Schott Glass, the same glass used in Zeiss lenses. The quality is great and why would you want to put lesser glass in front of your pictures?

I have not always approached buying filters with the philosophy that it pays to have good glass, but after buying cheaper filters that got stuck on my lens or were difficult to clean I decided that my photographic images deserved better. The Heliopan Circular Polarizer is great. It screws on easily and smoothly. It is very easy to rotate and the guide numbers help if you want to recall the exact position of the filter for a multiple shots of the same scene. I won't go with cheap glass again!
