Nice Small Platter, High Quality Product

This is a handy, smaller-size platter/serving dish in the French Garden line. Good for the main dish for dinner for 2 or 3, or possibly for a side dish. Also good for homemade bread or desserts (like brownies). I like this line and have collected it for a few years now, because of its classic French Country look, multi-color scheme, and high quality. IF one knows porcelain/china, one can easily tell just by handling whether a piece is good or poor quality. These dishes do not have the "hollow" feel that cheap china has. Although an expensive investment, I chose this pattern because: (1) I found 3 dinner plates at my local Salvation Army store for a buck a piece! (That was my initial message from the Universe that his was the pattern for me.) (2) On a trip out west, went to a Villeroy Boch outlet mall store in CO. and found them closing and this pattern on sale for 50% off or more. Bought a boxful, which they kindly shipped for $15! :-) (3) Since then I watch out for the sales and have bought just a few pieces to round out the collection. (And no - although I've looked, I've never found another piece at the Salvation Army store.)My advice when collecting any dinner pattern: always buy 1 piece more than you need in each style( bowl, dinner plate, etc). E,g., if you plan to have 8-person dinner parties, buy 9 pieces. If 6, buy 7. This way, you will always be prepared when one breaks! And according to Murphys Law, when you have an extra piece, the chances of breakage go down dramatically!
